Join Us In The Challenge To Read The Bible In 90 Days

DAY ONE

For those that are signed up for the Challenge of reading the bible in 90 days, welcome to your journey of faith through the Bible.

HEBREWS 4:12  “FOR THE WORD OF GOD IS LIVING AND POWERFUL, AND SHARPER THAN ANY TWO-EDGED SWORD, PIERCING EVEN TO THE DIVISION OF SOUL AND SPIRIT AND OF JOINTS AND MARROW,  AND IS A DISCERNER OF THE THE THOUGHTS AND INTENTS OF THE HEART”

This will be a journey of faith for all who are involved in the challenge.

We will pass milestones of faith along the way.

The faith of different ones like Abraham and Moses David and Gideon, Nehemiah and Esther and many others.

We as we read, we will learn about the object of our faith, God and I know God will speak to each and every one of us.

For all in need of a FAITH LIFT, you are on the right track.

God bless you all richly as we embark on this journey of faith.

“GOOD, BETTER, BEST, NEVER LET IT REST, TILL YOUR GOOD IS BETTER AND YOUR BETTER IS BEST.”  (Anonymous)

“NOTHING GREAT WAS EVERY ACHIEVED WITHOUT ENTHUSIASM”  (Emmerson)

Your enthusiasm will encourage others

All my love and prayers are with you

Ps. Les

DAY TWO

On the 2nd day how have you felt?

God said to Abraham, “leave your country, your people, your family,. Go to a place that I will show you.

Imagine God saying that – what would we say.

Oh but God – where – how – but what about my job – but what about my family – but but but.

Just think of God saying, now you just start walking and you keep walking and I’ll tell you when to stop.

How many of us would sign up for that plan?????

A little harder than us signing up on Sunday for the Challenge.

Abraham Lincoln is known for making the statement, “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.

a dull axe makes for far more work

a dull axe can be much more dangerous than a well-sharpened one.

Every believer loses the edge in his or her life from time to time.

DAY THREE

SO many have said just in the first day how much they are getting out of Genesis. This blesses me, as I am excited at how much they are going to get out of the Bible in these 90 Days.

We communicate mainly through word, and it does matter how we do it, Our word is a reflection of the Incarnate Word. The Lord said, ”Let there be light.”(which we have just read).

And the invisible received its existence through word.   Word is the greatest power in the world. “By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth” (Ps. 33:6).

So also in us the hidden things manifest themselves through word, and secrets become known, therefore we need to use words with great care.   It is so important for our word to have an atmosphere of good.

When communicating through word, we seek well for ourselves;   we want to have good in us.

Words originating from good make our life brighter.   If good word is powerful in a conversation, then we will long have a good feeling of something valuable, godly and common to us.

Words should make us closer, unite us, but not corrupt and separate us.    Words that we hear have the greatest influence and an immense importance in all of our lives.

You are all doing so well, I am so proud of you all, and can you imagine how God is feeling, as we have way over 100 people doing this.

Keep going –

Love

Ps. Les

DAY FOUR

As you have set apart these three weeks to seek God, know that God has already heard your prayer.

He is already at work on your behalf.

What specific clarity of vision are you seeking from God during this time?

Write down your prayer so you can reflect on it at the end of the 21 days,  spend time praying for God to speak to you and give you strength.

Only the Bible tells us who God is, what He is like, and, most importantly for our sake, what He wants for man.

According to the word of God, we can know all that we need to know about God by studying His word, the Bible (see 2 Peter 1:3-4).

we all are reading the bible and i am so excited to hear of so many of us taking the challenge

following is a list why we are doing this, and the value we will receive

 1.    it is the singular written will of god for man.

 2.    only the bible tells us of gods eternal plan.

 3.    It, and it alone, tells us of the Christ, His relationship to the Godhead, His incarnation, and     His death on the cross for  mankind.

 4.    Only the Bible tells us about God’s eternal kingdom, the church.

 5.    The Bible is the only Divine source that tells us that within God’s eternal kingdom there is salvation, the forgiveness of sins, and the hope of eternal life in the presence of God.

 6.    Nothing but the Bible tells us how we can find, identify and enter God’s eternal kingdom, and how we should live as members of that kingdom.

 7.    The Bible is the only Divine book that tells us how this world came into existence.

 8.    Only the Bible tells us about the true origin and nature of man.

 9.     No other book but the Bible informs us of man’s eternal destiny

Consider this:    If there is a God, and if the Bible really is His sole revelation to man, does this say anything significant about the Bible’s importance? Absolutely.

If it is true that only the Bible can tell us everything that can really be known about God and what he has in mind for man, then the Bible is the most important book in the world.

It is more important than any, and all, books written on science, business, politics, psychology or history. (THAT IS WHY IT IS IMPORTANT WE READ IT)

As you read the Bible. You will learn of God’s will for your life. Submit yourself to that will and you will receive the blessings that God has planned from eternity for you to have.

I have been so blessed at the responses that I am getting back from some of you, and the questions.  The more interaction we can have at this time the better it will be.

Keep up the good work.

Ps. Les

DAY FIVE

GENESIS 1:1  “IN THE BEGINNING GOD CREATED…..”

I Like the Message Bible, “first this, God created the Heavens and earth – all you see, all you don’t see”

There is so much involved in this one verse.

When I suggested reading the bible through in 90 days, I had people come to me and say, Genesis is so boring, and all they thought of were the begats, lol.

Four days into the Challenge I have had people come to me saying “WOW, Genesis is so interesting”

What does the book Genesis mean?   It means “origin”

The first word  is be-re-SHIYT. It is from the Hebrew root resh-aleph-shin, meaning “head, start, beginning,”   The second word is ba-RA, meaning create, shape or fashion. The third word is eh-lo-HIYM, one of several names for God in the Hebrew Bible.

So a word-for-word translation  ”in-beginning created God.”

I have found this so amazing that God created us, and as I was mulling over this the last week, I then thought what did He create us for?

He created us for such a purpose.

I encourage each one of you today to think on this and write down the purpose God has called you to!

DAY EIGHT

Good day all,

well the journey has begun and it is a good journey.  the air is pregnant with possibilities – can you feel it.  heaven itself is longing to invade the earthly realm.

Gods glory upon gods people is becoming more and more, bringing hope in the most hopeless situations.

God is opening up is treasure-house of truth and releasing it in a mighty way.

At this time, the apostle paul’s prayer is being answered before us. “i give thanks for you making mention of you in my prayers, that the god of our lord jesus christ, the father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him (ephesians 1:16-17)

Things are being released in revelation knowledge to you all.

God is unveiling a day of divine encounters, for those who will pursue him.

He creates an  appetite in us for himself by lavishing us with the reality of his goodness and

his irresistible glory.

Gods love for us is beyond comprehension and imagination.  he is for us,  not against us.

God is good 100% of the time.

“now the lord is the spirit, and where the spirit of the lord is there is liberty.  but we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the spirit of the lord”

2 corinthians 3:17-18

In the message it says in verse 18 – “all of us!  nothing between us and god, our faces shining with the brightness of his face.   and so we are transfigured much like the messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as god enters our lives and we become like him.

To you all, i wish you a “happy transformation week”  as you draw nearer to him.

I love you all and am so proud of you.

DAY NINE

In Genesis 28:16  JACOB SAID “SURELY THE LORD IS IN THIS PLACE, AND I DID NOT KNOW IT”

(Message) “…… GOD IS IN THIS PLACE – TRULY, AND I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW IT”

You see it in a meeting – one person is experiencing the most powerful encounter with god and the one next to him is yawning and twiddling his thumbs.

It is so important  to learn to position ourselves to encounter god by learning to recognize the signs of his presence, not only as we experience them but also as others do.

In mark 16:14 “still later, as the eleven were eating supper, he appeared and took them to task most severely for their stubborn unbelief, refusing to believe those who had seen him raised up.”

Jesus rebuked them because they had not believed the ones that had seen him raised up.

even when we don’t understand it is important to believe God through another persons experience, difficult yet important.

It is also important not to think only certain people have unique gifts and can hear and see god.

It is for  all.

In doing this you  will disqualify  yourselves because you think you are nothing special.

You are special, you are unique, and you are necessary for god to work through.

He is looking for those he can trust.

I saw this poem once on david and goliath, and i thought i would share it with you.

GOLIATH

I’m ready for a major battle, and they have sent me this play toy.

I was looking forward to a challenge, but I’m facing a mere boy.

What can they possibly be thinking, sending in a boy like you?

Don’t they know one of your size, I can trample with one shoe?

DAVID:

What are you thinking, giant, as I fondle this stone?

You are probably convinced
that I am acting alone.

But there is actually One
who is standing beside me.

A formidable adversary
who you simply cannot see.

He is my moral support,
and He steadies my hand.

And He knows the exact spot
where my stone must land.

You can’t know the awesome power of this entity you face,

Who will cut you down to my size, and leave your memory in disgrace.

For He is the God of everything,
and He is also mine.

The hand that holds this stone
will be guided by the divine.

As my stone finds its target,
you succumb without a sound.

And the earth beneath you trembles, as your body hits the ground.

I had the element of surprise,as you simply could not see,

the invisible enemy you were fighting was actually God instead of me.

HE IS STANDING BESIDE YOU TODAY – NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE – GOD AND YOU ARE THE MAJORITY.

BLESS YOU

Ps Les

DAY TEN

So often when you do a fast, there comes a time when everything within you cries out for comfort.

I was at a wedding and one of the young people said, pastor is there anywhere in the daniel fast that takes in a day like this.  bearing in mind the lovely food that had been going around.

It is important to realize you must use wisdom but it also important to have that determination, “i am going to stick to this fast, no matter what situation i am in, or no matter what my flesh is screaming at me right now.

Same can be said about the reading, your flesh is screaming, “i am tired”, etc. no keep that determination.

God has a specific destiny planned just for you.

When Abraham decided to leave his home and follow God – he had no idea where that journey would take him – as maybe you don’t at this time.

God has begun something in you – he has stirred you in a special way   -

Deuteronomy 32:11

like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them aloft.

Make your mind up today you wont be one to compromise when things get tough.

If you want to know gods plan for your life, this is the time to ask him.

plain and simple – just ask.

When you get to your wits end, you will find, god lives there.  ~author unknown

I love that quote, God is doing so much in you right now, don’t allow the flesh, or the enemy to rob.

have a victorious day, filled to overflowing with the blessings of God

all my love.

DAY ELEVEN

For too long we have made someone’s else’s code of living our model, but god wants us to lift our eyes up above man as our example and put our eyes upon his son Jesus.

In a time of fasting the devil will tempt you like he did Jesus.

it is important to:

1.      Keep your motives right.

2.      Be sure your heart is pure before god and that you are not fasting for any earthly gain.

God will honour that.

As i said on sunday night that someone thanked me for doing the 90 day challenge as for the first time they can pray, as they can pray the word and realize the power behind those words.

The bible is a manual for learning the life of prayer.

Using Gods words as the skeleton matter for our prayers, enables us to pray with his power, his direction and his wisdom.

2 timothy 2:15  “study to show yourself approved unto god …”

Martin Luther said, “to pray well, is the better half of study”

John bunyon wrote, “prayer is sincere, sensible, affectionate pouring out of the soul to god through christ in the strength and assistance of the spirit, for such things as god has promised.”

John 6:63 – “the words he speaks unto us, they are spirit and life.”

It is vain to expect power in prayer,  unless  we meditate upon the words of christ and let them sink in deep and find permanent abode in our hearts.

It is an adventure to be led by the spirit of God, and we are all on an adventure.

When i did prayer school, god gave me this.

 P.R.A.Y.E.R.

 Praise  -  2 samuel 7:27,  nehemiah 1:11, psalm, 109:4

 Reverence  -  psalm 88:2,  james 5:16

 Appreciation  -  romans 10:1

 Yielding  -  psalm 143:1

Entering into his rest – isaiah 38:5

 Rejoicing  -  isaiah 56:7

The only way to do much  for god, is to ask much of god.

Prayer is being intimate with god.

We must personalize the word of god in our hearts.

Ask yourself:-

1.    what does the passage teach me about jesus?

2.    is there any command in this verse for me to obey?

3.    is there any example in this verse for me to follow?

4.    is there any promise for me in this verse to claim?

5.    is there any error for me to avoid

we are in double figures now, and that’s exciting, enjoy yourselves

much love

DAY TWELVE

We are going into the weekend, always a difficult time to the people on a fast, but also a time to push in and find God.

Today i would like to make you aware of the twelve covenant names God gave himself.

they reveal who our God is.

I remember the first time i was given these names at a study when i was at rhema. my prayer life took on a whole new turn.

hebrews 13:8  “he is the same yesterday, today and forever”

Jehovah – tsidkenu —- the lord our righteousness, god who is righteous.  jeremiah 23:6

Jehovah – m’kaddesh —— the lord who sanctifies or sets apart.  1 corinthians 1:30

Jehovah – shalom —– the lord god of peace.  judges 6:24

Jehovah – shammah —— the lord god who is always there, or the lord god who is present.  ezekial 48:35

Jehovah – rapha —— the lord god who heals, or jehovah the healer.    exodus 15:26 and psalm 103:3

Jehovah – jireh —— the lord god who is my provider genesis 22:14

Jehovah – nissi ——–he is the lord god who is our victory banner.  exodus 17:15

Jehovah – rohi ——— the lord who is my shepherd. he is my shepherd.  psalm 23:1

Jehovah – adonai —– the lord who is  master   He is el-elyon :   the most high god.  psalm 91:1

Elohim —– he is the lord god who is the creator;  genesis 1:1,2

El Shaddai.  he is our all sufficient one.  he is the almighty one.  genesis 49:25

By using gods names in your prayer  life, you are saying “i call you today Jehovah tsidkenu, the lord who is my righteousness. i praise you as my righteousness today.

Remember our position is one of victory.

Have a wonderful weekend filled with gods promises.

ps. Les

DAY FIFTEEN

To the ‘challengers’

Well we are three weeks down and ?????? To go.

So many are absolutely just loving reading their bible, some I must say are doing ‘catch up’ at the moment, lol, but that’s ok I have every faith they will . Others are way ahead where others are spot on.

People are starting to remember details a little more.

I suggest if you have points of study, that you write them down and return at the end of the 90 days as you have a big challenge to get through first. As you go through we are seeing God chose to show His love by being involved in every aspect of the peoples lives.

Make sure when you are reading you have a notebook handy that you can jot down things to investigate at a later stage.

Remember this.  ‘challengers’ there is only one that would rob you from completing this challenge and that is satan. DON’T let him win.

You can do it, God and you are a majority.

2 Kings 6:16 He said, “Don’t worry about it – there are more on our side than on their side.”

God bless you all as draw even closer to God this week.

Ps. Les

DAY SIXTEEN

A prayer for renewing the mind

“Father i thank you that i shall prosper and be in health, even as my soul prospers.

i have the mind of christ, and do hold the thoughts, feelings and purposes of his heart.

Father, i trust you, with all my heart.

I lean not unto my own understanding, but in all my ways i acknowledge you, and you shall direct my paths.

Today, father, i submit to your word.  for the weapons of my warfare are not carnal, but mighty through you to the pulling down of strongholds – intimidation, fear, doubt, unbelief and failure.

I lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ, the anointed one.

Today i shall be transformed by the renewing of my mind, that i may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

Your word, lord, shall not depart out of my mouth, but i shall meditate on it day and night, that i may observe to do according to all that is written therein:  for then i shall make my way prosperous, then i shall have good success.

My thoughts are the thoughts of the diligent which tend only to plenteousness.

Therefore i will not fret or have any anxiety, but in everything by prayer and petition (definite requests) with thanksgiving continue to make my wants known unto you, Lord.  and your peace which transcends all understanding, shall garrison and mount guard over my heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

Today i fix my mind on whatever is true,

Whatever is worthy of reverence and is honourable and seemly,

Whatever is pure,

Whatever is lovely and lovable

Whatever is kind and winsome and gracious.

If there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise.  i will think on and weigh and take account of these things.

Today i roll my works upon you, Lord – i commit and trust them wholly to you.

You my Father will cause my thoughts to become agreeable to your will and so shall my plans be established and succeed.”

Have a wonderful, God filled day.

love

ps. les

DAY SEVENTEEN

Last night at prayer meeting there was such a presence of god, i feel as we push in with the fast and the challenge, lives are changing in such a way that heaven is invading earth at Citifaith.

I believe we are moving into a day of divine encounters as we push in to god.

2 corinthians 3:18 “we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the spirit of the Lord”

I believe more and more we are going to see gods glory, its time .

You are not just doing a challenge or a fast, you are in gods  will and he will do wonderful things.

We are entering into a fullness with god that many have never entered before.

Keep going guys.  as i am writing this i feel the presence of god all over me.

Have a wonderful, God ordained day.

love

ps. Les.

DAY EIGHTEEN

A PRAYER FOR YOU TO SAY

Why are you cast down, o my inner self?

And why should you moan over me and be disquieted within me?

Father, you resist  the proud, but give grace unto the humble.  I submit myself therefore to You, God in the Name of Jesus.  I resist the devil, and he will flee from me.  I resist the cares of every day life which try to pressure me daily.

Jesus, I come to You, for I labour and am heavy-laden and over burdened, and You give me rest – You will ease and relieve and refresh my soul.

I take Your Yoke upon me, ad I learn  of You, for You are gentle (meek) and humble (Lowly) in heart, and I will find rest – relief, ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet for my soul.

For Your yoke is wholesome (easy) – not harsh, hard, sharp or pressing, but comfortable, gracious and pleasant;  ad Your burden is light and easy to be borne.

I cast my burden on You, Lord, (releasing the weight of it) and You will sustain me;  I thank You that You will never allow me, the (consistently) righteous, to be moved – made to slip, fall or fail.

In the Name of Jesus, I withstand the devil.  I am firm in my faith ( against his onset) – rooted, established, strong, immovable and determined.  I cease from (the weariness and pain)  of human labour, and am zealous and exert myself and strive to enter into the rest of God, – to know and experience it for myself.

Father, I thank You that Your presence goes with me, and that You give me rest. I am still and rest upon You. I  Will not fret myself, nor shall I let my heart be troubled, neither shall I let it be afraid.

I hope in You, God and wait expectantly for You.  For I shall yet praise You, for You are the help of my countenance and my God.

so many people are telling me how much they are receiving from reading their bible through. a few have said it is different reading it through.

how about those who are telling me, tell each other to encourage the ones that are battling a little.

to the fasters, it is nearly over – don’t go and stop it now.

drink your water – drink your water
love you all

ps.Les

DAY NINETEEN

Macdonald’s have a drive through window.

From your car you can just sit there comfortable and order and in only an instant – voila – we have a burger and fries etc, and to be honest doesn’t take much longer to eat it all.

When we were in america we had the bank that we could do that. just drive through and bank your money.

When we go into a restaurant for a five course meal – we can sit and enjoy every mouthful, course after course after course, enjoying every morsel.

I feel as we have gone into this challenge we have taken our bibles and we are digesting every bit in it. such satisfaction is taking place in each and every one of us.

We are making the word of God a delight in our daily lives.

Psalm 1:1 “blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked …. but his delight is in the law of the lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.

We have stopped living on junk food from the take away window, we are sitting and eating from the best.

DAY TWENTY SIX

Dear Challengers,
Well the Daniel fast is over and to all that were just fasting and not in the challenge, well done, and well done to all who are also in the challenge.

I am getting some very interesting feed back on the challenge, some quite funny as well.
I thought maybe to keep this exciting we could have almost like a debate, on here.
If you have some thoughts on what you are reading, why not put it to paper and send it in, so others can add their thoughts to it.
I am seeing such changes in people, strength arising that wasn’t evident before, obviously it was there, but has come to the surface as they are reading through the Word like this.
I wish you all a very good day as you face your Challenge today.

Much love
Your Pastor.

DAY THIRTY

Dear Challengers,

We have had some great feedback from some who are discovering great things during their reading:-

From Colin Jones –  Solomon’s Temple.

From Sue Jameson -

I am enjoying the bible reading and, as you were asking for feedback, here is mine:

I was reading Judges 3:1 and 2  recently:

“Now these are the nations which the Lord left to prove Israel by them, that is, all in Israel who had not previously experienced war in Canaan;

It was only that the generations of the Israelites might know and be taught war, at least those who previously knew nothing of it.”

And 3:4

“They were for the testing and proving of Israel to know whether Israel would listen and obey the commandments of the Lord, which He commanded their fathers by Moses.”

It reminded me that God clearly wants His children to be equipped for battle.  Just because they lived in the Promised Land it didn’t mean there would be no opposition and He allowed it so they would know how to defend themselves.  And we need to be aware of the armour that is available to us and equipped to use it.

It made me think of people who work hard to earn money and then spoil their children, not teaching them the value of money and giving them everything they think they might want and how badly those children are equipped to live in the real world.  And they are not usually a blessing to those around them either!

Just some thoughts that have stayed with me.

Dear Challengers,
I am receiving so many letters from people who are enjoying the challenge, reading the bible through like we are doing has made such a difference in the lives of people.
After asking permission from some of them,  thought it might be good for you all to see how it is changing lives.
I hope you enjoyed the picture that Colin found, so interesting to see these.
A few have asked me for the form which has the daily readings on as they had misplaced them, If you need any more I have them on me, see me on Sunday, or if you are near the church, pop in and have a coffee, and I can give you one.
I am so proud of you all, also put your thoughts on Citifaith page on Facebook, as it is good for people who aren’t doing the challenge to see.

Bless you Challengers
